Award winning songwriter Beth McIntosh to lead Victor Elementary School in the third annual Teton Valley Songwriting Series

March 4, 2002

Award winning songwriter Beth McIntosh to lead Victor Elementary School in the third annual Teton Valley Songwriting Series:

This year, it's WILD CATS from the Earthfire Institute/Wild Bunch Ranch.

Singer/Songwriter Beth McIntosh and Victor Elementary School will be producing a full length CD of songs written about their experience with live bobcat and lynx provided by the Susan Eirich of the Earthfire Institute/Wild Bunch Ranch of Tetonia, ID. The animals will visit Victor Elementary School in order for the students to observe them. Project coordinator Kara Donnelley is providing books and other resources for the students to study the biology of bobcat and lynx. The project will run from March 12-26, 2002, concluding in a concert of the material written during the two week workshop.

In 2000, Victor Elementary and Beth McIntosh produced a full-length album of Bear songs after visiting with Huckleberry Bear Bear, another one of the Wild Bunch Ranch's ambassador animals. The experience helped kids to define and express their views and feelings about Bears and wildness. They spent a lot of time studying Bear biology with project coordinator Kara Donnelley of Victor, ID. The project-based learning experience was a success for all.

Singer/Songwriter Beth McIntosh has4 published sense of place CDs, one of which is entitled Grizzlies Walking Upright, which uses Native American bear mythology as one tool for reinvesting sacredness in the way we perceive the earth.

The Wild Bunch Ranch provides a place for animals to live in a beautiful, respectful setting where they serve as an educational resource for people interested in preserving habitat, saving species, and other ways of sustaining the natural world.
